Our aim is to bring the best of contemporary UK culture to New Zealand.

Annual Living Room Public Art Programme

Living Room, Auckland City Council's annual 10 day public Art event, features artists from all over the World including the BCNZ sponsored UK contingent. The programme includes a mix of performance art, installations, sound art and video projection. In 2011, the theme is "Metropolis Dreaming" and includes renowned UK artist Disinformation.

People In Your Neighbourhood

As part of the British Council New Zealand's New Work New Audiences programme, we have one of our flagship events called People In Your Neighbourhood which launched March 2009, ready to roll out for 2011-12.

The event brings together aspiring artists and performers from Auckland's diverse music and creative communities, to workshop, capacity build, collaborate and celebrate with cutting edge visiting UK creative expertise.

Look out for the 2011/12  PIYN programme of intercultural futurism.

Semi Permanent

Semi Permanent, is NZ's biggest annual design symposium, and is  back on May 18-19th 2012 in Auckland. The 2010-11 list of visiting international speakers had a strong UK contingent that the British Council was proud to support. View the full SP10 lineup here.
