Strengthening understanding between people in the UK and other societies

Through our work we aim to:

  • Strengthen the concensus for rejecting all extremism
  • Facilitate individual and organisational contribution to positive social change and improvement of civil society
  • Increase the use of English as a tool for international communication and intercultural understanding

We work in partnership with a wide range of organisations to deliver a variety projects and programmes in this area connecting Northern Ireland to the world and the world to the Northern Ireland.

Transatlantic Network 2020 (TN2020)

Transatlantic Network 2020 (TN2020) seeks to create sustainable, multilateral networks that span the Atlantic by engaging future leaders from North America and Europe to collaboratively address global issues.  The inaugural summit was held in Northern Ireland at the end of September 2008, and the second is planned for Chicago in June 2010. Still in the planning stage, the next Summit will include participants from both Northern Ireland and Ireland.  More ....

Open Cities

Making Migration work for cities across Europe ..
With 20 million new migrants settled legally in the EU and many more illegal immigrants making Europe their home, Belfast and Dublin are leading the way with a clutch of  European neighbours to ensure that the experience is beneficial for all. An OpenCities photographic exhibition will show at Belfast's Victoria Centre this Autumn. More .....
