Jonathan Laurence is associate professor of Political Science at Boston College and nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. He is the author of The Emancipation of Europe’s Muslims (Princeton 2012) and Integrating Islam: Political and Religious Challenges in Contemporary France (with Justin Vaïsse, Brookings 2006) and of essays in Affari Internazionali, European Political Science, Esprit, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, Le Monde, Perspectives on Politics and The Tocqueville Review. He recently served as Senior Fellow at the Transatlantic Academy (2009) and as a visiting researcher at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin (2010), and is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He received a PhD in political science from Harvard University and a BA in European politics from Cornell.
