Call for presenter proposals
The British Council Seminar Series for English Language teachers is seeking potential presenters.
Since 2010, the British Council Seminar Series has welcomed over 1,500 English Language teachers to 37 seminars, in 12 cities around the UK. The seminars have featured stimulating seminars on a wide variety of topics given by Michael Swan, Jeremy Harmer, Judy Kirsh, Sally Farley, Gavin Dudeney and Jamie Keddie. You can find the titles of past seminars and films at www.teachingenglish.org.uk/seminars.

New publication: Managing Change in English Language Teaching: Lessons from Experience
This new British Council publication focuses on the practical challenges of designing and implementing English language teaching change projects. It contains four over-arching papers on key issues in the management and evaluation of change in ELT, twenty-one case studies from around the world, and a summary of "lessons learnt". It should assist anyone looking for practical guidance in designing, implementing or evaluating an ELT project, offering insights into where things can go right, and where they can go wrong.

New Publication- ELLiE
We have recently published ELLiE- Early Language Learning in Europe, edited by Janet Enever.
ELLiE is a research project that investigates the effectiveness of the teaching of languages in primary schools in a range of European countries- Croatia, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden and The United Kingdom.
Foreign languages are increasingly seen as a necessary basic skill for all primary children worldwide, making this publication essential reading for those involved in planning and implementing early learning language policies in school contexts.

English Language Teaching Research Partnerships (ELTRP) 2012
The British Council is now inviting proposals for the 4th ELT Research Partnership scheme. Through this scheme we aim to promote partnerships between UK and overseas academic institutions, and to encourage and facilitate research that will impact on ELT practice around the world.
The deadline for proposals is 20 April. Any queries should be addressed to eltra@britishcouncil.org

New Blog- British Council's Global English Programme
Michael Carrier, Head of Global English for the British Council has begun a new blog.
The blog aims to share news and updates about the British Council’s Global English programme. Our goal is to support the 1.5 billion learners of English and the 12 million teachers of English around the world, with training, research, resources and cutting edge digital learning materials.
Michael says: "In this blog I’ll share ideas and projects in ELT globally – such as the work we do with policymakers, with ministries of education, and in teacher training.
I hope to bring some interesting examples of how we use technology to reach millions of learners worldwide and bring them better access to learning resources, as part of our goal to support teachers and learners globally.”
