Before applying for courses, you need to find out what the entry requirements are and what the deadlines for applications are. Individual institutions are free to specify their own requirements. There are general academic requirements and you will need to prove that your level of English is sufficient for the course.
Academic requirements: Most UK institutions will accept Dutch school leaving certificates, but you should always check with the particular institution you are interested in. They will usually have their own resources of finding out what your Dutch diploma is worth. You can translate the title of your diploma using this online glossary.Applying for undergraduate degree courses
To apply for full-time degree courses and higher national diplomas (HNDs), you simply make a single approach through the centralised application process. This service is provided by UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Services). All UK universities (except the Open University) and most colleges of higher education are members of UCAS.
You can apply online through International Apply. A help facility is available in each section. If you are unable to use the online service, you can order a paper application package from UCAS. You should submit your application for courses one year in advance between 1 September - 15 January. See UCAS website for specific deadlines (e.g. medicine studies, Oxford/Cambridge and Arts)
Applying for postgraduate degree courses
You should apply directly to the university that runs the course you are interested in. Details of the application procedure will be available from the institution. For Master's degrees most institutions require a recognised first degree in a relevant subject for entry. There is no restriction on the number of different courses you can apply to in one year. Some institutions now accept applications via the Internet.
Applying for Foundation/access courses
If the access course you want to attend is at a university, you can apply as explained for undergraduate degree courses. Otherwise, apply directly to the institution.
Applying for other courses
All other courses need to be applied to directly to the institutions that offer them. Find contact details through Education UK for English language courses, boarding schools, foundation/access courses, postgraduate courses and career based courses.
