Cambridge FCE and CAE Preparation Classes

Get prepared for your exams with our courses

If you are taking an FCE or CAE exam with us we can also provide an exam preparation course to ensure you are familiar with the format of the test and able to get the best results.

Who is it for?

students aged 16 or over
all Upper Intermediate and Advanced level students
students about to enter an English-speaking school, college or university
students wanting to obtain an international qualification in English
students keen to practise English for real world situations

What about the course?

In order to do well in these examinations students need to develop specific skills in:

Listening: improving your ability to understand a wide variety of spoken language in a range of contexts. You will learn strategies for dealing with difficult listening tasks, helping you to eextract the important points from quickly spoken English.
Reading: reading and using a variety of authentic texts. Developing speed reading skills in order to find relevant information quickly and efficiently.
Writing: practice in producing a variety of text types using appropriate style and register.  Learning how to plan, organise and proof read your work effectively, even under exam conditions.
Speaking: developing a range of speaking skills.  In this course will aim to improve the fluency and accuracy of your English as well as push you to use a wide range of language structures effectively.  A large part of the Cambridge speaking test is collaborative so you will learn strategies for interacting and communicating effectively with a partner.
Use of English: acquiring an in-depth knowledge of structures and vocabulary. Your teachers will highlight some of the most common errors people make with their use of English improving your accuracy and improving your ability to communicate clearly and without ambiguity.

You will be able to access a wide range of materials including multimedia resources and support materials in the Learning Zone.

What are the benefits?

You will get a Certificate in Advanced English
This is a useful qualification and also a motivating reason to continue to work to improve your of English.
Students who attend exam preparation classes consistently get better grades than those who do not.
You will receive individual coaching, identifying your strengths and weaknesses as a means to improving overall performance in the examination.

If you want to take this course, you will need to have taken a British Council placement test and demonstrated the minimum level of English language competency required to enter the preparation course.
