Scholarships

The Weidenfeld Scholarships and Leadership Programme at Oxford University

We manage this scheme on behalf of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Said Foundation who jointly fund up to 10 awards annually in the Arab world. These scholarships are available for any discipline, but the fund is looking for first class students who will be able to make a difference in their chosen field when they return to Lebanon after their course of study. The award accepts applications for 12 months postgraduate programmes. The deadline for submitting your application is between 15 and 31 January at our Knowledge and Learning Centre.

Applicants must

hold a B.A/B.Sc. degree or equivalent
have a minimum of 2 years work experience
be Lebanese, Palestinian, Jordanian, Syrian, or an Arab citizen of Israel, and normally resident in the Arab world
not hold any form of British Residency
be 25 years of age but under 35 at the time the chosen course begins

have already applied to at least one educational institution or are in the process of applying. If not, please visit our Knowledge and Learning Centre to start your search

You MUST apply to one of the KRSF's partner universities if your course is offered. If you have not applied to a partner university you must explain why on the application form. The partner universities are: Birmingham, Cambridge, Durham, Essex, Exeter University, Glasgow, Goldsmiths, King’s College London, Leeds, London School of Economics, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Nottingham, Oxford, Oxford Brookes,Royal Holloway School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), School of Pharmacy (University of London), Southampton, St-Andrews, University College London and Warwick.

demonstrate that your chosen course of study will be of use to the development of the Middle East
be prepared to sign a binding agreement to return to your home country or any of the KRSF target countries (Lebanon, Jordan, Syria and Palestine) for a period of 3 years, following the completion of your degree

How you can apply

Download your application and submit it with

a passport size photograph
a letter of acceptance
an English proficiency exam or IELTS score. We are an accredited centre for IELTS testing. Please contact our exam services for enquiries on how to register for an IELTS test
a sealed university transcript of record
all documents must be in English. French is accepted for grades only
you do not need to submit reference letters at this point.We only require them if you will be shortlisted for an interview.

Please note we are very strict in the presentation of application forms. If the application form is not completed correctly, we will return it to candidates. Kindly refrain from enclosing any additional documentation such as Curriculum Vitae and the like. All information should be included in the application provided. Please do not staple documents together and only submit A4 size documents.

You need to submit 2 copies of the application form and 2 copies of your transcript in separate plastic transparent folders.
