Mayssoun was born in Beirut in 1974. In 1980 she moved to London, where she attended a bilingual school. She then went to her local high school at the age of 12. At that age Mayssoun used to dream of being a vet as she was a great animal lover. However, at the age of 15 she was selected to help a foreign student with their English. This was when Mayssoun developed a love for teaching and decided this would be her career path. After leaving school, she studied French and Anthropology at Oxford Brookes University and then went on to do a post-graduate diploma in Applied Linguistics.
After completing her postgraduate studies she moved to Beirut where she started her teaching career. Her first teaching job was at the AUST where she taught Academic Englishfor three years. She then went on to do a CELTA which helped her get her job at the British Council and later completed her DELTA.
Despite her fondness of London, Mayssoun continues to live in Beirut. She actually admits being 'addicted' to Lebanon and 'finds it very difficult to leave'. In her free time Mayssoun enjoys shopping for bags and shoes and she is never bored with exploring Beirut's endless nightlife!
