Summer Teacher Training Development Programme

Our experienced trainers provide practical ideas for adopting communicative methodology and improving the effectiveness of English language teaching in Lebanese schools. We run the Teacher Training Programme in July and August every year. Find out when and how to register for this programme.

Teacher Training Development Programme for Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT)

What is TKT?

TKT tests knowledge about the teaching of English to speakers of other languages.  TKT helps teachers to find out about the main areas of teaching knowledge needed in the English language teaching classroom.

Who is TKT for?

TKT can be taken at any stage in a teacher’s career.  It is suitable for teachers of elementary, intermediate, secondary or adult learners.

What does TKT involve?

TKT has 3 modules.  These modules can all be taken together at the same time, or separately, in any order, over a period of time.  For each module there is a test of 80 questions.  Successful candidates will receive an internationally recognised certificate from the University of Cambridge.

Module

Focus

Module 1: Language and backgroud to language learing and teaching

Module 2: Lesson planning and use of resources for language teaching

Module 3: Managing the teaching and learning process

The programme will

provide you with practical ideas that you can use in your classroom
highlight the importance of creating a 'learner centred' environment
encourage you to try out new techniques in your teaching
explore pedagogic issues of concern to teachers of all subjects and all levels
take into account the realities of teaching in Lebanon, in terms of constraints of syllabus and facilities
enable inexperienced teachers to build a framework of principles around which to develop their practical teaching techniques
expose experienced teachers to approaches that they can integrate into their existing teaching practice
encourage you to reflect on your own classroom experience, as both teacher and learner

How you benefit

To get the maximum benefits from the programme, participants should be confident in speaking in and listening to English. Here are some comments from last year's participants

'Frankly speaking, the sessions exceeded my expectations. To start with the trainers were excellent: dynamic and accurate. All in all it was really fabulous.'

'I liked this session very much. It was very useful for me. I gained new ideas and I'll go to my school feeling more self-confident. The trainers are very patient and I felt very comfortable with them.'

'Attending this session widened my teaching perspectives. I have acquired a new teaching outlook that might especially help in the development of my students' abilities to think critically, solve problems and communicate effectively. I really enjoyed it.'
