EAP supported HEIs in trialling new and innovative approaches to building capacity in African higher education.
The Department for Education and Skills in England invested a total of £3 million in England-Africa Partnerships until March 2008, with £1 million specifically targeted at partnerships with South African higher education institutions (HEIs).
The programme has helped to strengthen capacity in higher education in Africa, by funding partnership and collaboration between England and sub-Saharan Africa.
EAP supported 32 partnership projects with the aim of
seeking inventive and practical ways to build and strengthen capacity in African higher education, andProjects focussed on a wide range of subject areas, for example science and technology, open and distance learning, teacher training and key skill areas such as business and management, education and agriculture.
You can see which projects were selected in round one and round two and also find out more about these on the EAP Project Highlights page.
EAP is now closed to any further applications but this has been succeeded by a new Education Partnerships in Africa programme.
