INTRODUCTION

The British Council wants to make LearnEnglish a safe, fun, educational place on the Internet. The information below gives you more information about the site, copyright, how we safeguard your privacy, and eligibility for competitions.

links
LearnEnglish contains selected links to other websites to help you find information and materials on other sites, mainly from the United Kingdom. The British Council is not responsible for the content of those sites.

advertising
This site does not contain advertising. LearnEnglish does however promote English language courses, publications and educational services offered by the British Council and by educational bodies and publishers from the United Kingdom.

competitions and games

Student visitors: please ask your parents and teachers to review this information with you. Ask your parents or your teacher for permission before you send any information about yourself (for instance, your name, address, or e-mail address) to us or to anyone else over the Internet. Please read this section and the sections below on Copyright and Privacy before you enter a competition.

Our competitions and games are designed for learners of English as a foreign or second language normally resident in a non English speaking country outside the United Kingdom. We ask those who speak English as their first language not to enter these competitions, and will not consider entries that we believe are from such individuals for prizes.

Competitions and games are for individuals and groups from all countries and age ranges. Sponsors may limit prizes to certain age ranges, and this will be made clear in the description of the prizes on offer for a particular competition. We will use the information submitted by you in your submission to check your eligibility for prizes, and to inform successful prize winners of their good fortune.
