This July, Manchester United visited Korea for the first time, and beat FC Seoul 4-0. Our colleague, Jeehyouk Kim, describes his excitement at the experience.
Manchester United!
I was not expecting to get the ticket when I signed up for the lottery: there had been only a very slim chance of winning the single ticket for the Manchester United v. FC Seoul game. But I got lucky!
I was a little nervous before the game because I was about to see the world’s best players, playing in front of my eyes. All the players came out, and I could not decide which side I should cheer. However, the intense excitement and the heat of the crowd in the stadium fortunately wiped out all my thoughts, and I was soon fascinated by the game.
Manchester United simply showed people why they were able to win so many Premier League trophies; those footballers on the field were better than amazing. Sitting in front of the players felt so very different from watching their games on TV. I could feel the passion and enthusiasm of all the footballers, and they proved how much they love football by making outstanding moves.
I think that Manchester United gave FC Seoul a good lesson.
Manchester United was founded more than 100 years ago whereas FC Seoul came into existence just a few years ago. Considering its short history and lack of players due to injuries and the Asian Cup, FC Seoul did very well, but I gave my sincere congratulations to the winner, Manchester United.
I was little worried before the game because I heard it might rain during the game, but thankfully it didn’t happen. I was very happy to enjoy the excitement and to share the passion for football with British people. I hope Manchester United will come again to Korea, and I can be there at their game again sometime.
