British Council invites you to participate in the Global Changemakers’ Euro-Africa Youth Summit Orange lozenge left
If you are between 18 to 24 years old, your English is good, you want to make changes in the community and have a passion for Africa or work on Africa related-issues then participate in our competition! The winner will take part in the Global Changemakers’ Euro-Africa Youth Summit in Brussels on 24-30 June 2012.
The Euro-Africa Youth Summit will select and bring together young social entrepreneurs, community activists and volunteers from Africa and Europe for a five-day summit which will:
•Improve participants’ knowledge, insight, and exposure to key economic, political, and social issues in and between Africa and Europe and feature top thinkers and social entrepreneurs from both continents
•Improve participants’ ability to design and deliver projects by giving them the concrete tools and skills they need to amplify their work including project management, fundraising, working with media, and advocacy
•Connect young European and African activists and serve as a platform to exchange knowledge, ideas and best practice of what works most effectively at the grass roots.
The event will take place in Brussels and will consist of five full days training, workshops and capacity building with parliamentarians, experts and facilitators, as well as visits to organizations in Brussels.
Candidates should:
•Be citizens of Kazakhstan aged 18-24 in June 2012
•Have a proven track record of social entrepreneurship, community activism or volunteer work
•Have a strong Africa connection
•Possess good spoken command of English
•Go to www.global-changemakers.net between January 30 and February 19th, 2012 to see the full instructions on the site
•Complete a written form and prepare 2-minutes You Tube video which should address your track record in your community and how you plan to contribute to the wider network if selected.
The call for applications will go live on www.global-changemakers.net on Monday, 30 January and will run until Sunday, 19 February, 2012. The results will be announced by 15 March 2012
Participants’ airfare, accommodation and meal during the summit will be paid by the Global Changemakers.
Global Changemakers is a British Council funded global youth network of social entrepreneurs and community activists from 121 countries worldwide. Its mission is to empower youth to catalyse positive social change.
There are currently over 700 Changemakers, more than 200,000 young people involved in Global Changemakers activities each year, and 3.2 million beneficiaries of GCM projects. Check www.global-changemakers.net for more info.
