The attestation service of the British Council is provided for individuals who are UK educational qualification holders.
British Council attests all education, training and professional awards, including certificates, degrees and diplomas, at all levels issued by any accredited UK institution or organisation.
We will not attest any of the following documents:
The British Council asks universities to verify a certificate within five days, while acknowledging that sometimes it can take longer. As the British Council needs to verify the qualification/result with the issuing authority before attesting, we cannot give a definitive delivery time for this service. However we will endeavour to deliver within five working days. This may take longer depending on the turnaround time of the UK institution.
If the award issuing authority does not respond to the verification request within 10 working days the customer is requested to contact the university themselves to hasten the process. The British Council holds no responsibility for any delay caused by the UK education institution concerned. In the case that verification is delayed or not received, customer services staff will contact you and inform you of the likely pick-up date. Documents will only be returned to the person who submitted them or if the British Council issued authorisation form has been signed by the certificate holder.
Please ensure that you are familiar with the arrangements and any relevant regulations concerning your attestation request. The British Council cannot be held responsible for events or circumstances, which are outside its control or for any error, fault or omission by any other third party.
Please note:
The British Council reserves the right to reject attestation of any document if the Programme/Institution is not recognised by the UK Education board, document is found to be altered, defaced in any way or if there is any question regarding the originality of the document.
School Certificates
We only attest school certificates issued from recognised UK boards.
Certificates issued locally require the school/institution’s stamp before attestation.
Certificates issued internationally require the school/institution’s stamp before attestation otherwise they have to go through a verification process which will take a minimum of 5 working days or more depending on the board/institution.
Attestation Charges
The attestation fee is AED 120 per stamp.
