Face to face courses for English language teachers

If you are a teacher of English who wishes to update your teaching skills or simply want some new ideas and a place to share your ideas, views and experience, you will find our face to face courses very interesting and practical.

TEACHING YOUNG LEARNERS

WHO IS THE COURSE AIMED AT

The course is especially intended for:

Teachers of English who work with young learners in state and the private sectors who need to improve their teaching
Teachers of English who have little or no experience in teaching young learners and wish to receive a basic grounding in teaching methodology
Experienced English teachers who are thinking of moving into the primary sector

HOW IS THE COURSE DELIVERED

The course has three practical workshops offering lots of hands-on training. They are delivered by an experienced professional trainer who will give you support throughout the sessions.

During the training, participants will have to complete tasks set by the trainer, discuss topics with other participants and reflect on their lessons.

LENGTH OF COURSE

The course will be delivered during weekends in April and May, starting from 28 April 2012 at the British Council in Skopje.

COURSE TOPICS

The course is divided into three main topics:

1. Teaching young learners

Module 1     Teaching young learners – How is it different?

This module focuses on some developmental features of young learners aged 6 – 12.

Module 2     Teaching skills, vocabulary and grammar

Module 2 explores how we help our learners develop their language. Apart from going into the teaching skills, emphasis is placed on using games, songs and stories in the classroom.

Module 3     Classroom management and Assessment

This module looks at aspects on how to keep your learners engaged. In addition, the module covers types, methods and instruments of assessment of young learners.

All sessions will run from 10 a.m to 2 p.m.

If you would like to attend this professional development course, please first fill in the application form.

PLEASE NOTE

Participants will be selected according to their qualifications and on first come first served basis.
The quorum for the training course to start is from 15 – 20 teachers.
Certificates of attendance will be issued only to those participants who attend all 3 workshops.
