New Work New Audiences takes British art forms to influential audiences around the world and enables them to experience the transformational effect of the arts. New Work New Audiences highlights the power of the arts as a catalyst for developing international understanding, trust and dialogue and through this builds a stronger engagement with the UK.
What Is New Work New Audiences?
New Work New Audiences is an arts programme.It aims to find new audiences for innovative UK music, theatre, visual arts and film through presenting high quality work of a type that is not currently widespread in the region
The overall aim of the project is to engage a wide audience with the best of UK art, enrich cultural life in Bangladesh and the UK and present art as an opportunity for dialogue between cultures.
The different art forms can enable large numbers of people to experience the power of culture and the arts to develop understanding, trust and dialogue. Through the partnerships of New Work New Audiences, the international reputation of the UK will be strengthened with long term benefits for British society and the UK cultural sector and economy.
We will develop long-term strategies for cultural and artistic collaboration and exchange with priority audiences using a variety of new partnership models, providing capacity-building, structural and professional, where necessary.
EUROPEAN SHORT FILM DAYS

Alliance Française, Goethe-Institute, the Embassy of Italy, the Embassy of Spain and British Council present a weeklong short film program at the Institute of Modern Languages, University of Dhaka, from May 13 to 17, to strengthen the cooperation in the field of teaching foreign languages by conveying a contemporary image of European culture.
The screenings will take place from May 13 to 17 at the auditorium of the Institute of Modern Languages of Dhaka University. Main target group are the institute’s students of English, French, German and Spanish language taught there, however also other students of Dhaka University as well as the general public are welcome to join the program. All films screened have English subtitles. Entry is free on first come, first served basis.
The ambassadors of the participating European nations (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK) as well as the vice-chancellor of Dhaka University have generously confirmed their attendance in the opening session on May 13 at 05.00 PM.
The program of the first “European Short Film Days” is:
•May 13, 05.00 – 07.00 PM: Inauguration ceremony; selection of European short films from France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK
•May 14, 05.00 – 07.00 PM: Spanish selection of short films, provided by "Madrid en Corto” in cooperation with “AECID" (Spanish Agency of International Development Cooperation)
•May 15, 05.00 – 07.00 PM: German selection, curated by Goethe-Institute
•May 16, 05.00 – 07.00 PM: French selection, organized by Alliance Française
•May 17, 05.00 – 07.00 PM: European selection II, including some co-productions between Bangladesh and European countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK)
