Creative Economy
Partly due to the efforts of the British Council, the creative economy is receiving greater recognition in Indonesia. As a result, the UK’s strengths and extensive experience in this field are increasingly appreciated by local stakeholders.
To encourage the growth of creative people, the British Council runs programmes to provide skills, networks and funding opportunities to allow Indonesian creative entrepreneurs to flourish and to encourage leaders to value the contribution of the creative industries to employment and economic growth.
New Work New Audiences
Showcasing the UK’s creativity is a powerful way of promoting understanding of the UK and recognition of its positive influence in the modern world. Likewise, brokering relationships between UK and local organisations strengthens understanding of Indonesia and refreshes and invigorates both our creative economies.
The British Council works with the best of British creative talent to develop innovative, high-quality events and collaborations that link artists and cultural institutions around the world, drawing them into a closer relationship with the UK. In Indonesia we are working with the Jakarta City government and others to bring art and artists from the UK to work on creative collaborations with local counterparts.
