British Council India

SOCIETY

We build engagement and trust for the UK through a mutual understanding of values and the role of citizens, governments and civil society worldwide.

Our work in Society focusses on cultural relations and offers a powerful mechanism for change and a vehicle for engaging communities internationally, creating space and reason for debate and dialogues and building the social capital and civic engagement necessary to bring about change for the better.

Through the exchange of ideas and knowledge we develop long term partnerships and co-operation for the UK with governments, civil society and the private sector to share common goals, good practice and experiences, and promote the understanding of difference and diversity. Our work connects local issues to the global themes and complex challenges that we face as a world community.
