The Magic Pencil exhibition will be visiting our centre from April onwards, to showcase the work of leading children’s book illustrators from the UK.
What’s it all about?
Magic Pencil brings together thirteen UK illustrators of children’s books. The exhibition has been touring the world since 2002, entertaining adults and children in every continent. Its aims to showcase UK creativity and inspire the next generation of readers and artists.
Who’s involved?
The exhibition features well-know illustrators, like Raymond Briggs (The Snowman) and Quentin Blake (The Twits), as well as new names like Lauren Child and Stephen Biesty. Lauren uses computers and collages in her work, while Stephen creates detailed cross-sections of machines through free-hand drawing and paint (no rulers!). Other artists on show include: Angela Barrett, Patrick Benson, John Burningham, Emma Chichester Clark, Sara Fanelli, Michael Foreman, Tony Ross, Posy Simmonds and Charlotte Voake.
Keep your children entertained
Magic Pencil is a great way to engage children’s minds and encourage their creativity. And it’s a healthy change to the summer holiday diet of kids’ TV and video games. What’s more, it’s free.
When and where?
The exhibition will be running for ten weeks at our centre on Whitworth Street. It’s open from 0930 to 1630 every day, except Sundays.
