Welcome to the DCSF Teachers' International Professional Development website

The TIPD programme enables teachers from England to experience alternative educational practice in different countries around the world.

It was launched in May 2000 and has since provided over 10,000 places on short term visits. Teachers from Primary, Secondary and Special schools in England are all welcome to participate.

In part-delivering the programme the British Council TIPD team works closely with overseas partners, and with Local Authorities and schools, to ensure that benefits are mutual and that positive teaching and learning outcomes are effectively shared. Our website contains full information about what we offer and our programme team will be pleased to provide further advice if required.

It’s a wonderful opportunity.  Be prepared to have a fascinating, thought-provoking, entertaining and valuable trip.  We were exceptionally well looked after, had very friendly hosts, and felt thoroughly respected as colleagues in a respected and valued profession - very refreshing!
