IELTS preparation courses at the British CouncilOur IELTS Preparation courses are aimed at those taking the IELTS exam in the near future. Taught by experienced IELTS teachers and created by the developers of the exam, the courses provide a thorough introduction to the test.
We offer three course formats to suit your particular needs:
START (1 day: 10 hours)
This course enables you to take an authentic mock test, to give you an accurate idea of your potential in the real test, get detailed feedback and personalised advice on how to improve your performance.
INTENSIVE (2 days: 20 hours)
For those who want a thorough introduction to the exam in a short period of time.
MODULAR (6+6+8+8 (=28) hours)
For those who want more flexibility in their preparation. You can register for a whole course or for individual modules; should you just want to concentrate on specific exam skills related to Speaking, Reading & Listening and Writing.

Is Road to IELTS online all I need to prepare for the exam?
Road to IELTS Online is a self study resource which we recommend you follow along with other forms of preparation (face-to-face courses or self study preparation books).
How and when do I get access to the materials?
When your payment for the IELTS test is confirmed you will be sent access codes to the materials. You will then create your own personal log on and as a double check on your identity you will be asked to enter the date of your IELTS written test. You will be able to access the materials as many times as you wish until 1 week after the date of your written exam. To log in to the materials access the Road to IELTS portal here.
What if I forget my personal log on details?
You should access the Road to IELTS portal and request your password which will be automatically sent to you. If you have any further questions about the materials please see the Frequently Asked Questions document.
Visit our LearnEnglish website and find free practice materials and advice to help you prepare for the listening, speaking, reading and writing modules of the IELTS test.
You can also watch learners from different parts of the world give views and opinions about the IELTS test. There is a series of videos focusing on the speaking module of the test, as well as online practice activities and mock testpapers for the other three modules.
