Introduction
BMAT is the BioMedical Admissions Tests. It is a subject-specific admissions test taken by applicants to certain medicine and veterinary medicine related courses at selected institutions in the UK.
What are the components of the test?
The BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT) is a two hour pen and paper test consisting of three sections.
Section 1: Aptitude and Skills (60 minutes - 35 multiple choice questions)
Section 2: Scientific Knowledge and Applications (30 minutes - 27 multiple choice questions)
Section 3: Writing Task (30 minutes - essay question)
Why take BMAT?
Candidates applying to one or more of the BMAT participating institutions (see below list) are required to register for the test through a Cambridge assessment open centre before the application deadline.

The University of Bristol's Veterinary Science (D100) course will have access to candidates' BMAT scores FOR RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY in 2011-12. The BMAT will NOT form part of the course entry requirements.
* Please note that it is not essential for applicants to the Cambridge Graduate Course in Medicine (A101) to sit the BMAT, although applicants could use a successful result as part of their per-medical requirements.

How can I register for the test?
By post - Please send your completed registration form with a copy of your HKID card or passport, and a cheque made payable to “British Council” or pay by credit card (please see Information for Candidates) to:

How can I prepare for the BMAT?
Candidates are strongly advised to prepare for the test by referring to the test content and doing the sample tests on the BMAT website: www.bmat.org.uk
Special Needs
We aim to do our best to cater for candidates with special needs. We will do all we can to enable candidates to understand test questions and ways of giving answers. All candidates, irrespective of their disability, will be assessed fairly and objectively.
Candidates who require special arrangements are asked to contact us before they submit their application. Relevant supporting materials such as medical certificates should be submitted during registration.
