This course has been designed for children of all abilities who are attending Kindergarten 3, Primary 1 or Primary 2.
Phonics teaches the relationship between the written letters and individual sounds of spoken language. It is a systematic method for teaching children to read and write. Our phonics programme incorporates good practice from the ‘Letters and Sounds’ and ‘Jolly Phonics’ programmes to create a multi-sensory learning programme.
Parents can support learning through the Letters and Sounds book in modules 1 and 2 and the Sentence Book in modules 3 and 4 provided.

Course Aims
Free Parent Session
We provide a free phonics training course for all new parents. This 60 minute session provides parents with the skills you need to support your children’s learning at home.
Demonstrating Progress
A short report will be given at the end of each semester.
Working in Partnership
We understand that you want to be involved in and support your child’s learning. To this end we have created an outline of the Download PDF Document roles and responsibilities of all those involved in the learning process.
Parental support is important to all children as they benefit from plenty of praise and encouragement. Each week we will send home a parent letter that outlines the learning objectives of the lesson and ways in which parents can support this learning at home. Your child will also bring home Letters and Sounds and Sentence Book which will give them opportunities to extend and consolidate their learning in and around their home.
We have various means of keeping in touch with the parents of our students to ensure you are well informed about the centre and your child’s progress in class, these include:
SEN (Specific Educational Needs)
We are committed to providing an inclusive learning environment in which children are supported to achieve their potential in a spirit of inclusion and acceptance. We value the abilities and achievements of all our pupils and recognise that parents hold key information and knowledge of their child.
If your child has a specific educational (or medical) need, please share this knowledge before registration.
