THE BRITISH COUNCIL AT TEDXTHESSALONIKI

We're delighted to be taking part in Why Not?, this year's TEDxThessaloniki event, which aims to highlight a series of innovative and alternative ideas on the general concept of Why Not?

TEDxThessaloniki invites you to share a day-long TED-like experience in Thessaloniki with the participation of local and international inspiring innovators, practitioners and performers covering a range of fields such as technology, business, journalism, politics, entertainment, arts and design.

More specifically, this year’s list of conference speakers includes:

Rob Thompson, Principal Designer at Nokia and award-winning product designer, author and former Lecturer at the Royal College of Art and at Central Saint Martins, London.
Paul Lewis, Special Projects Editor at the Guardian and named Reporter of the Year at the British Press Awards 2010 for his revolutionary use of social media in journalism. The award-winning journalist leads a team focusing on new ways of breaking news stories, using multimedia and crowdsourcing.
Dr. Athanasios G. Konstandopoulos, leader of an international research team that has developed the HYDROSOL process for renewable hydrogen production by solar thermochemical water splitting. This achievement has received worldwide recognition through the 2006 Descartes Prize for Research (the highest scientific award in the European Union).

Local independent TEDx events are organised around the globe in cities such as New York, Sydney, Tokyo, Dubai, London and Amsterdam, promoting the spirit of ideas worth spreading.

TEDxThessaloniki is a not-for-profit conference organised by a group of volunteers, maintaining the non-profit nature of TED.
