My Arm & An Oak Tree
In collaboration with Bios, we are proud to present for the first time in Greece Tim Crouch, British author, actor and director, whose work is famous for deconstructing and exploring the art of performance.
Tim Crouch made his debut at the Edinburgh Festival Showcase in 2003, and has been considered one of the most important representatives of Britain’s experimental theatre ever since.
Tim Crouch is coming to Athens to present two of his most successful plays, My Arm and An Oak Tree, in 4 performances.

My Arm
"At the age of 10, for want of anything more meaningful to do, I put my arm above my head and kept it there. Now, thirty years on, I’m so full of meaning it’s killing me.”
Τhe story is told through a combination of live performance, digital film and the animation of everyday objects supplied by the audience before each performance. Above all, My Arm is an extraordinary piece of theatre about modern art, bloody-mindedness and how the things we do when we’re ten stick with us for life. It’s beautifully written: simple, honest, intimate and painfully funny.
Μy Arm opened to universal acclaim at the Traverse Theatre during the Edinburgh Festival 2003. Since then it has toured the world, both independently and with the British Council.
"Crouch is the most engaging of performers, and he is actually exploring on stage the nature of art and performance itself, taking risks in the process … At these moments, Crouch is armed and dangerous."

An Oak Tree
A man loses his daughter to a car. Devastated by his loss, the father thinks his daughter is the tree next to which she died. Nothing now is what it is. It’s like he’s in a play – but he doesn’t know the words or the moves.
An Oak Tree picked up a Herald Angel when it premiered at the 2005 Edinburgh Festival. The Traverse Theatre run was a sell-out success, and was met with widespread critical acclaim. It has since toured the world.
"I would call this Pirandello for a modern audience and better. It’s philosophy in action, playful and seriously thought-provoking."
