In collaboration with the Kinitiras Studio – Aristic Residency Centre, it is our pleasure to present the international residency project Superheroes by Greek playwright and director Elena Penga, UK director and performer Patrick Morris (co-founder of the Menagerie Theatre Company) and Swiss performer Steffi Mueller (co-founder of the subversive Hoipolloi theatre company).

After the success of the project’s first residency in Athens in December 2010, the three artists return to Greece to continue the research they had originally undertaken with the support of the Arts Council of England on the theme of superheroes and the ways in which they can come alive on stage, seeking answers to questions such as: Who are today’s superheroes? What kinds of acts are heroic? Are we all potential heroes? Are we all avengers? Is imagination powerful? Does imagination have the power to overturn situations?

The residency will be held from 4 to 11 July in Athens and the project’s performance will be presented to the public on Tuesday 12 July as part of the In Progress Festival, organised by Kinitiras Studio from 11 June till 16 July this year.
