To mark the end of 2009, we are celebrating the 400th anniversary of the publication of the first edition of William Shakespeare’s sonnets (20 May 1609) and invite you to two events we are supporting as a tribute to Shakespeare.
“The love of madness and the madness of love! An escape to nature, towards a forest of liberation and the lifting of all limits and boundaries. What do the differences between sanity and madness, between a man and a woman mean when the 'anarchy' of the erotic impulse and the euphoria of insane amorous desire intervene?”
Excerpt from the director's notes
Taking the madness of love in Shakespeare's work as its starting point, the Simeio Miden theatre company explores the multiple possibilities of amorous desire and impulsiveness, going as far as breaking established gender boundaries and touching on the dangerous zone of androgynism.
Director: Savvas StroumposThe performance is in Greek.
