Going Global, an annual conference hosted by the British Council, offers an open forum for global leaders of international education to discuss current issues. Since 2004, it has grown from a biennial event in the UK to an annual event alternating between the UK and major international cities. The event provides a platform for networking, and has become a fixture of the global education calendar.

Over 1,000 registered delegates from across the tertiary (further and higher) education sectors and various other sectors with perspectives on international education attend.

The conference consists of a series of sessions on the year's chosen themes. Sessions can be panel debates, multi-presentation sessions and poster presentations.

Why Miami for 2014?

We are extremely pleased to be taking the conference to Miami in 2014, one of the world’s hubs for transport, banking and trade as well as culture and education; and a bridge between Latin, Central and North America. Miami is:

  • home to ten colleges and universities
  • location of 100 international consulates, trade offices, and bi-national chambers of commerce
  • one of the world’s leading metropolitan areas for global companies, with a roster of more than 1,000 multinational corporation

Miami International airport is one of the busiest in the world, all of the Americas region capital cities and many other capital cities from around the world are reachable by direct flight. Airlines serving MIA fly nonstop to 47 destinations in the United States and Canada, 32 in the Caribbean and The Bahamas, 24 in South America, 13 in Central America and 14 throughout Europe and the Middle East.
