We deliver a number of face-to-face methodological and language development teacher training courses. Some of them have been produced by the UK experts and some of them have been produced locally in cooperation with the English Teachers’ Association in Georgia (ETAG).
TEACHER TRAINING COURSES
Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) Essentials
The course covers the major aspects of modern ELT methodology - theory and practice and is accredited by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. It prepares for the teacher certification test and leads to and prepares for the Cambridge Exam for English teachers. The course is the British Council Global Product.
Steps to Success
This is a training course for all who wants to develop and grow. The course aims to help beginner teachers as well as MA students of Education department to successfully start their professional careers. The course is designed by the British Council in South East Europe, including Georgia.
Certificate in Secondary English Language Teaching (CiSELT)
This is an in-service teacher training course for secondary school teachers who teach learners in the age range from 11-18. It enables teachers to consolidate essential skills, develop their confidence and build on their understanding of learning and teaching. The course leads to a certificate based on continuing assessment through classroom-based assignments and attendance.
English for Teaching 1
English for teaching 1 is an in-service language course for teachers, which combines a language syllabus with input on current ELT methodology. The course enables participants to progress from A2 to B1 (CEFR), while they develop teaching expertise through tasks and activities related to teaching contexts.

The course aims to help teachers gain more confidence in teaching classroom instructions in English and discusses advantages of a well-prepared lesson plan.It also teaches designing tasks, preparing and delivering sessions. The course is the British Council Global Product.

Teaching Speaking
TeachingEnglish – Teaching Speaking provides high-quality, entertaining and instructive video and paper-based materials to help EL teachers reflect on their teaching and learn from the practice of other teachers. The videos focus particularly on helping teachers overcome the obstacles that stop students speaking English.
COURSES FOR TEACHER TRAINERS
Trainer Development Course
The TeachingEnglish – Trainer Development Course helps participants develop their professional expertise in ELT teacher training. The course consists of six workshops covering principles and practice in current approaches and methodology. An important feature of the course is micro training, where participants put learning into practice through peer training sessions. Topics covered in the course include teaching and training roles, learning styles, motivation, issues and challenges, feedback and evaluation.
E-moderator Essentials course recognised by Cambridge ESOL
The TeachingEnglish E-moderator Essentials course has now been officially recognised by Cambridge ESOL as suitable preparation for people wanting to become a trainer for the Cambridge ESOL CELTA online course. This validates the British Council E-moderator Essentials course as a useful developmental tool for teacher trainers.
New mentoring course for teachers
We have developed the new TeachingEnglish Mentoring Skills Course which consists of five workshops covering the principles and practice of mentoring. A key feature of the course is 'Mentoring in Action', where participants practise mentoring activities and receive feedback from each other.
