The Selector

The one-hour programme was broadcasted every Sunday at 22:00 in English and covered all styles of contemporary music including indie, grime, dubstep, folk, soul, electro and everything else in between. Each show also featured artist interviews and exclusive studio sessions from some of the most exciting artists in the UK.

Classical Twists

The aims of the Classical Twists strand of the NWNA in Georgia was to support the establishment of the education department at the Tbilisi State Opera; support the development of the  Opera Youth Club at the Scottish Opera; co-production of Little Red Riding Hood, an opera for children by I. Gokieli, a Georgian composer.

In 2010 August, Rusudan Matsaberidze, the Deputy Manager of the Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theatre and Maia Samniashvili, Assistant Deputy Manager, visited Scottish National Opera in Glasgow for an exploratory visit.

From 28 March to 1 April 2011, the team from the Scottish Opera presented contemporary methods of teaching music to the combined team of 10 Georgian secondary school teachers of music, including IDP teachers from Abkhazia, and 10 representatives of the Tbilisi Opera.  The idea was to equip the participants of the project with knowledge and confidence in the area of teaching methodology and creativity with the aim to transfer the knowledge gained during the workshop to their colleagues.
