Dear Members of Vietnam Partnership
It was very nice to see most of you again at our meeting in Hanoi during the annual Education UK Exhibition during which we provided you with an update on student visas for the first 10 months of 2007 and a piece of research on lifestyle trends in Vietnam. All presentations and market research documents are now available on the Vietnam Partnership website.
We hope you will enjoy our latest newsletter.
Best wishes for a festive season!
Education UK Vietnam Team
In this issue we will give you some press reviews of Vietnam’s economy and trade, and Vietnamese government priorities in education reform. A brief report of the visit by Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister to the UK is also included featuring the signing of a Memorandum of Collaboration with the Secretaries of State for DIUS and DCFS.
The international education market in Vietnam has been very exciting this year with the US reporting a 55% increase in the number of visas granted for Vietnamese students, Australia reporting an 88% increase and the UK an increase of 25%. Both of our leading competitors continue to offer a high number of scholarships to Vietnamese students. The Competitor section will give you an insight into other Asian emerging competitors.
Last three months was a very exciting period in Vietnam with the biggest event of the year, the EducationUK exhibition in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Danang.
As well as the exhibition itself, we organised a meeting with members of the Vietnam Partnership, and matchmaking meetings with representatives from local educational institutions and agents.
Moreover, several activities with local school feeders and agents and promotional activities are going on. Please read further for details.
PMI2 for International Partnership has brought about opportunities for UK universities and colleges to start partnership projects with Vietnamese partners in collaborative programme delivery, research cooperation and vocational partnership. An update of what is going on now and future calls are included in this issue.
