Web Conferencing is a tool used to communicate over the internet. You and your class can conduct live meetings and presentations with your European partner school. Both you and your partner school must have access to the internet, a web cam set and have web conferencing software like Flashmeeting or Elluminate

Registering opens up a whole new world of contacts with realms of experiences to share and support to give. It also allows one to show case work done by the students across Europe.
What benefits has running an international link through ICT brought to your school?
It has allowed students who can not afford to experience the international dimension first hand to do so over the web. It has opened the global dimension to the whole school, not just the more affluent section who could travel with their parents or on a school organised visit.
Specialist areas:
My expertise is not really on line work but we have used it for ISA applications but have a large input into implementation of Curriculum for Excellence across a secondary school and advising departments on the inclusion of the international dimension or facilitating contact with subject specialists who have already done so. Leading idea generating sessions also a strength both in Scottish schools and internationally. My strengths lie in the Comenius fields as this is where I have spent most of international ‘career’.

Val BrooksWhy would you recommend registering with eTwinning?
eTwinning is one of the easiest way to begin international partnerships and it can pave the way to developing Comenius links and other funded partnerships. This is also a great way for schools starting out on participating in the International Schools award.
What benefits has running an international link through ICT brought to your school?
Although I support schools rather than work in a school, I have seen many partnerships develop. I have seen students involved in partnership projects much more interested and engaged knowing that they are linking with real people from a different country. I also see the increased motivation from teachers, particularly when they learn new ICT tools and realise how they can be used to enrich their projects.
Specialist areas:
As part of the eTwinning teacher team, I can give support on all aspects of using the etwinning portal. I also have a great deal of experience in using webconferencing (Elluminate) for live collaborative working. I can also help with the use of many Web2 tools such as googledocs, vokis, slideshare, wikispaces and blogs.
