Assistant Head
Iclal LawrenceI am an assistant head of a primary school located in East London with over 450 pupils. Over the last four years, we have won many awards and became a model for other primary schools to use eTwinning creatively in their existing curriculum. I have run many events and workshops for Newham and other neighbouring boroughs and been invited to many events as a speaker. I would be willing to help schools to promote etwinning and offer practical advice through case studies.

Fatima DurdenWhy would you recommend registering with eTwinning?
Because it is a great opportunity for schools to find partners and develop the international dimension, motivating students and teachers to create projects which are interesting and fun. It gives first-hand experience to cross-curricular language learning.
What benefits has running an international link through ICT brought to your school?
It has allowed our pupils to develop their ICT skills in a fun and creative way and it has given them a realistic context for language learning. It has also helped them develop an interest in and understanding of different cultures. This is our second year of eTwinning. We started with one partner school in Spain and one project in 2008-09. We received a Quality Label for our project entitled “Learning Languages, Learning Cultures”.
