The British Council office in Eritrea is working closely with Computer Aid International (UK) to provide Pentium IV computers and computer training to beneficiaries.
The technical check-up of 225 computers in the seventh phase of the CFL project has recently been accomplished and distribution has already started. In this phase, 150 librarians and IT technicians from six administrative regions of the country are going to participate in the training. 37 librarians have already taken the training.
From June 2003 to June 2008 CFL provided training to 824 librarians and distributed 1573 computers throughout Eritrea from and to 450 different organisations respectively.
Technical Help
The CFL project has also provided technical support in the use of the Library and Information Management System (LIMS) software. This software facilitates the systemisation of library material recording and cataloguing The project also aims to introduce systems that help librarians and students use new technologies and access information in new ways.
