Chevening Human Rights Scholarships
Chevening Human Rights Scholarships is a scheme funded by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). Since its launch in 1998, each year about ten Chinese scholars have won three month scholarships to study at the Human Rights Law Centre of University of Nottingham. The course offers a wide range of Human Rights options and includes International Human Rights Law, Human Rights in Practice and English Civil Liberties Law. There have been 46 awards to date.

Human Rights Core Textbook

‘Human Rights Core Textbook’ is a three-year sustainable project running from 2001 to 2004. We provide funding and support to Chinese scholars to research and write an International Human Rights Law textbook, including helping authors to travel to UK universities to undertake writing research. We also provide funding to purchase Human Rights books for a new Human Rights Resource Centre and arrange subject-specific consultancy visits to China for UK experts.

This project will result in a published textbook and therefore address the needs of Chinese law students who currently have no textbook for International Human Rights.
