BULATS Public Test Held on June 11
The Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy and CPTA recently announced that the first BULATS public test this year will be held on 11 June in 13 provinces and cities. The BULATS standard test will be used in the public test in all areas. In addition, in Beijing the BULATS speaking test will also be made available to the public. Registration for all tests will start on April 15. The CPTA website (www.cpta.com) provides detailed information on the test and registration procedures. Please note that In Shanghai the BULATS computer-based test, which serves for the recruitment of public servants will accept registration requests during the same period.
As the most authoritative business English test, BULATS aims to help young professionals and university students achieve a higher level of career development. Since 2005 when BULATS was first introduced to the public, it has gained wide recognition among the candidates and various companies and organizations. BULATS is now recognized by many in China as an essential tool for HR management; plus a large number of International companies, such as GE, IBM, Shell, Motorola, Emersion, and Volvo are using BULATS as a recruitment tool.

BULATS Launch Party- 1 April 2004, Guangzhou
Our Guangzhou Office organised BULATS Launch Party to officially announce the partnership between the British Council and Personnel Testing Authority of the Ministry of Personnel and to publicise the China Workplace English Benchmark Report in Guangzhou. Representatives from British Council, Personnel Testing Authority, China BULATS Network, and HR managers from 30 companies attended the party.
“International Shanghai, International English” – International Business Language Conference
31 March 2004, Shanghai
Our Shanghai Office along with two co-organisers - Shanghai Foreign Service Co., Ltd. and Metro Education - held the International Business English Conference with the theme of “International Shanghai, International Language”. Representatives from Shanghai World Expo Bureau and Shanghai Personnel Bureau and about 200 HR managers from well-known multinational companies were present at the event. The China Workplace English Benchmarks report was first publicised at the event and presentation on how to effectively organise corporate language training was delivered.
BULATS Launch Ceremony with Personnel Testing Authority - 29 March 2004, Chongqing
An official Launch Ceremony was held jointly by our Chongqing Office and Chongqing Personnel Testing Authority. Over 30 representatives from media and corporation Human Resource department were present at the ceremony, and tried the sample BULATS Computer test. The ceremony marked the official launch of BULATS test in Southwest China.
Workshop – Effective Management of Workplace English - 11 December 2003, Xiamen
The Workshop for Effective Management of Workplace English was organised by our Guangzhou Office and Times Language Training Centre, a BULATS Agent in Xiamen. It aimed to exchange ideas on how to effectively manage English related issues in companies, such as training, recruitment, promotion, etc. About 40 HR professionals attended the workshop.
