Yan Jun

Yan Jun, independent curator and organizer of experimental music and sound art realm. He is a well-known music critic, poet and driving force of China's indie music and sub-culture scene for years.Yan was born in Lanzhou in 1973. He holds B.A. degree in Chinese Language & Literature from North-West Normal University. now lives and works in Beijing. Yan runs the new music labels Sub Jam and KwanYin Records, as well as Waterland Kwanyin, a weekly events of experimental / impro music and sound art. Since 2005 he organizes the outdoor experimental music/sound festival MINI MIDI. He also curates music and sound projects for Dashanzi Internatioanl Art Festival since 2004. As a artist, he has also initiated Tie Guan Yin, a free-form electroacoustic improv project. He had performed in Paris (Nuit Blanche), Amsterdam, Berlin (Transmediale), Kuala Lumpur (Street Roar), Seoul (Bulgasari), Oslo, Brussels And toured in Taiwan. As a writer he published 6 books on topic of Chinese new music.
