The Business English Certificate (BEC) is an internationally recognised examination of English proficiency designed to meet the requirements in the workplace. It has been developed by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations to provide an international guide to English language ability
Why BEC?
For both employees and employers, the exam offers a number of advantages: UK higher education institutions accept BEC Higher as an entry requirement, particularly for students entering into Business streams.
The right level
The BEC exam is offered at three levels:
BEC PRELIMINARY
Aimed at the elementary and lower intermediate students of English.
BEC VANTAGE
Aimed at a broad range of people in the workplace in the junior management and administrative levels. It aims to be accessible even to those who have limited business experience but who see this as a necessary step towards personal growth.
BEC HIGHER
For those in the middle and senior levels of management with an advanced level of English.
At each level there are components on Reading, Listening , Writing and Speaking. Tasks are set in an international business context, but test language competence, not knowledge of business.
