With the entire media panic lately over the safety of foods we now reach for the labels of products we put on our table more frequently than ever and pore into them with concern. And what else will the future offer – will food industry catch up with space technology to add even more complicated, unusual numerical combinations?

“OPEN Cities Faces” exhibition at The Mall
“OPENCities Faces” is a touring exhibition with photos visualising migration in cities. Over 100 images tell the story of starting a new life in a new city focussing on the hopes and fears of migrants’ lives. photo by Victoria Knysh (c) British CouncilTo accompany the research element of the OPENCities project, the British Council developed a photography exhibition around the theme of immigration into European cities. The exhibition shows images of migration taken by photographers from 8 European cities - Belfast, Bilbao, Cardiff, Dublin, Madrid, Sofia, Vienna and Duesseldorf. Eight photographers – rising stars in their own cities – have been recruited to examine the idea of ‘openness’ in their cities.
The photographer of the Bulgarian entries, Victoria Knysh, says: "Since joining the EU in 2007 Bulgaria has been very popular for new migrants. New business opportunities have opened up, the cost of living is cheaper and the lifestyle is more laid back than in the west. But the bureaucracy can be very frustrating. For my project I have asked immigrants what they like and dislike about Sofia and how the inefficient bureaucracy has affected them.”
The exhibition is presented in partnership with Sofia Municipality, The Mall, Colliers International, BG Radio, musicworld.bg, Dynacord Bulgaria, Multirama, Metro Media, FAMEcards, Capital Light, The Sofia Echo, Humanic, Fancy
