Our goal is to create new ways of connecting with and seeing each other through the arts.
The British Council harnesses the UK’s arts and creativity to promote stronger cultural relations with other countries as a means to build trust and understanding.
Our work in the arts includes: architecture, dance, design, drama, creative industries, fashion, film, literature, music, visual arts.

Creative economy

The British Council's Cultural and Creative Economy programme builds on the UK’s position as a world leader in the development of the creative and cultural economy and the UK Government’s aspiration to support further growth. New work new audiences

New Work New Audiences is a new British Council global arts programme which will explore the influence of British art as a catalyst for developing international understanding, trust, and through intercultural dialogue, building engagement with the UK.

Cultural Leadership International

A programme designed to develop the skills of a network of cultural leaders. Participants are selected through an open application process and will acquire leadership skills through training, work placements, mentoring and the exchanging of ideas and knowledge with their peers.

Edinburgh showcase

The British Council's Edinburgh Showcase is a biennial platform of contemporary UK performance featuring some of the most outstanding small and middle-scale touring productions made in the UK and selected by the British Council from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
