Script and Story
The Script Development and Editing Labs are especially designed workshops and their main purpose is to create a pool of skilled, trained and confident script & story editors who can effectively assist writers of feature film and television drama in the countries which are partners in this initiative by improving the quality of their scripts. Having filmmakers from seven different countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Israel, FYR Macedonia, Turkey and UK) come together and work together will give each of the participants a better understanding of scripts and stories as seen, evaluated and analyzed by colleagues coming from different cultures. Better scripts make better films which stand the best chance of reaching audiences around the world. The workshops taking place in each of the countries will introduce the participants to the local film industries and will contribute to the networking with the local filmmakers.
The Script Development & Editing Labs offer a range of highly experienced and skilled practitioners from the UK in their fields of screenwriting, producing and developing in both film and television. In providing different perspectives on screenplays, the workshop is able to offer the most complete picture of development.
This year-long programme starts with the Sarajevo workshop that will be held 17-20 August 2009. A three-day workshop will be followed by a day dedicated to individual meetings; the next three workshops will follow a similar format, but with new trainers and content, to continually build the skills and contacts of the participants. The second workshop will be held in London in December 2009, the third one in Istanbul in April 2010, and finally the Lab moves to Jerusalem in July 2010.
