Assessing speaking in the classroom according to CEFR (Common European Framework Reference) standards at the end of 3rd cycle of primary school
With the current focus on testing primary school leavers in the national ‘matura’ we should not neglect the unassessed component, speaking. This one day workshop looks at how to assess your students’ CEFR spoken level based on training videos provided by the Language Policy Division, Council of Europe. Additionally you will reflect on how to create your own informal speaking test.
There will also be opportunities to discuss and compare approaches to the teacher’s role during speaking activities in the classroom, with particular attention to your attitudes on correction and feedback. The emphasis of the day is on reflecting through doing and enjoying yourself at the same time; an invaluable experience you and your students can only benefit from.
