ARTISTIC POLICY
Theatre Alibi is a company of contemporary story-tellers, creating work for all ages that moves freely between the intimate and the epic and aspires to be inventive, joyful, moving, vivid, intricate and ambitious. Productions are marked by a passion for the live event: actors as story-tellers absolutely present with their audience, live music, puppetry and inventiveness. Theatre Alibi tours productions for both adults and children to small- and middle-scale theatres.

REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘One of Britain’s most inventive companies.’ The Guardian

‘The tale moves charismatically between dream worlds, human environments and watery realms to craft a very modern love story that casts a considerable spell.’ The Guardian ()

‘A rare and blessed production. This is not just a great piece of children’s theatre, it is a great piece of theatre full stop.’ Daily Telegraph ()

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
Tells the touching story of two children, one Polish, one English, whose lives are linked by what happened in a snowy forest long before they were born. Combines inventive story-telling and a live score for cello. (For 5–10-year-olds, 60 mins, no interval, 4 on stage, 5 on the road.)

An off-the-wall tale of mad love. A lonely woman falls in love with a swan with an all too human past. Told through inventive physical performance, puppetry, film and a live score on marimba and sax. (Some strong language and sexual references, for ages 15+, 90 mins, no interval, 6 on stage, 8 on the road.)

The powerful and moving story of ‘Spider’ Sparrow. Spider is ‘different’ and gets bullied by other children. But his amazing gift with animals ultimately wins the respect and admiration of all around him. Combines inventive storytelling, puppetry and live music for violin and piano. (For children and adults aged 8+, 90 mins plus interval, 7 on stage, 9 on the road.)

FUTURE PRODUCTION
Adapted from the novel by Graham Greene. With a whiff of Hitchcock and echoes of film noir classic The Third Man, is both taut espionage thriller and unnerving portrait of a mind in free fall. Combines inventive performance, staging and lighting and live music on piano and accordion. (For ages 14+, 120 mins plus interval, 8 on stage, 11 on the road.)

WRAP-AROUND
Post-performance discussions, Meet the Company sessions, education packs and DVDs, story-telling workshops for teachers.
