ARTISTIC POLICY
Talking Birds is a theatre company whose aim is to perpetrate astonishing acts of transformation. The company is particularly known for its site-specific work in unusual situations.

REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘The fine Coventry company who pioneered site-specific theatre.’ The Guardian

‘There is a perfect harmony between space and performance: the event is as much a celebration of a place as it is of an idea.’ ReviewsGate ()

‘What others claim to be, Talking Birds are. True theatre poets.’ Arts Council Advisor’s Report

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
A multi-sensory micro-performance for one audience member at a time within the belly of a giant aluminium whale. Suitable for all ages 6+, accessible for wheelchair users. (3 mins per performance, audience capacity up to 200 per day, 3 on the road.)

(co-production with Foursight Theatre.) Timely, song-driven theatre show for middle-scale venues. Stark, funny, absurd and anarchic, this is a new co-production from the companies that created Thatcher the Musical! (Foursight) and Trevor Goose (Talking Birds). (90 mins plus interval, 8 on the road.)

WRAP-AROUND
Residencies during which work is created for a building or site, often involving community/student participation, which can be related to university modules on creating site-specific work. Lecture demonstrations, talks and masterclasses on the company’s methodology for students, artists and policy makers.
