Subject to_change make live art works that defy theatrical convention by challenging the boundaries of artistic performance. Their work offers the spectator a unique, immersive and playful experience that strives to re-appropriate the traditions and etiquette of theatre and art.

REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘There is something rather thrilling about watching an entire city mushroom in a room almost overnight – particularly when you are building it yourself.’ Lyn Gardner, The Guardian (@Shunt)

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
A participatory live art event that develops over a period of days. The audience/participants are house buyers who purchase a small flat packed house, which they then assemble, decorate, and interact with neighbours. Further interaction is encouraged by communication devices available for residents to use, these include: a notice board, a postal service, a council and a local radio station – Residents FM. May contain strong language or adult themes, if dictated by the participants. (Durational installation, varies 2–4 days, or longe,. 6–8 hours per day, 7 on stage, sourced locally, 2–4 on the road.)

WRAP-AROUND
Workshops for all ages and levels. Pre- and post-performance discussions for both audiences and professionals, lecture demonstrations for professional artists and academics. The project is developing in three areas: theatre, education and architecture. It is constantly evolving, like its audience, and each new venue brings something new to the development. The project has been run in primary schools.

is a unique, creative and imaginative experience that young people can be involved in. It encourages personal expression while developing co-operation. Everyone involved plays a part in the decision-making processes linked to building their community. can educate people on local issues, through play and interaction. There is huge scope for wrap-around activity as each miniature town is made to be a specific reflection of the area in which it is being performed. Such activities can be tailored for children or adults. The project can be used as a springboard for discussions, lectures and debates on a range of key issues, including community, urbanisation, governance and architecture.
