ARTISTIC POLICY
Sound&Fury is a collaborative theatre company whose artistic interest is in developing the sound space of theatre. The company presents the audience with new ways of experiencing performance and stories by heightening the aural sense. One of Sound&Fury’s signature techniques is the use of total darkness.

REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘A feast for the ears and a rare workout for the imagination – theatre at its most potently intimate.’ The Independent on Sunday ()

‘Total theatre that doesn't just happen all around you, but that swallows you up completely.’ The Guardian ()

‘The most brilliantly immersive piece of theatre I’ve seen all year.’ Telegraph ()

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
A collaborative project with writer Bryony Lavery, inspired by the Kursk submarine disaster. The audience are immersed in and witness the submariner’s world of command and control, secrecy and codes. Some strong language, sexually explicit content, nudity. (80 mins with no interval. 7 on stage, 12 on the road.)

A visceral, provocative, disturbing and sometimes comic journey into the history and contemporary practice of anaesthesia. A collaboration with artists from Shunt. Some strong language and nudity. (70 mins with no interval. 3 people on stage, 7 on the road.)

A one-man re-working of Ether Frolics created to be performed in medical environments. Some strong language and nudity. (60 mins, no interval. 1 on stage, 3 on the road.)

FUTURE PRODUCTIONS
A one-man show about mortality and our place within the universe, using the company’s innovative theatre vocabulary of immersive surround sound design, moments of total darkness and imaginative lighting and projections. (1 on stage, 3 on the road.)

WRAP-AROUND
Post-show discussions, workshops and residencies. Sound&Fury’s sessions explore the sensorial potential of theatre, the process of layering text to create meaning within devised work, and the use of immersive sound design in theatre.
