ARTISTIC POLICY
Siobhan Davies Dance develops and presents the distinctive choreographic work of its founder and director, Siobhan Davies. The company makes dance to engage audiences and encourage debate, and performs across the UK and internationally. The new works planned for 2010 and onwards will focus on the relationship between the performer and the audience and, juxtaposed with works from other artforms, present dance as a generator of ideas.
REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘One of The Guardian's un-missable dance and art events of 2009.’ ( with Victoria Miro Gallery)
‘These are fascinating conditions in which to see Davies' choreography, partly because the unfamiliar space throws up so many differing perspectives. Some material appears shockingly dramatic. Other material looks close to human sculpture.’ **** The Guardian ()
‘If this is the way forward for dance performance in the 21st century, then bring it on, we’re ready.’ Independent on Sunday ()
CURRENT PRODUCTION
New work (title tbc) Davies will create a score with four dance artists that will be filmed and handed over to a selected writer, musician, visual artist and/or other artists or scientists for them to respond to. This new work will be an installation of all the works presented initially in London (end of 2010) before travelling to another UK city and abroad in 2011.
FUTURE PRODUCTIONS
