SDT is a company on the move, pushing boundaries and expectations – constantly stretching the skills and talents of 10 powerful and committed dancers. Work created by internationally celebrated choreographers and artistic director Janet Smith sits alongside creations by emerging talent. The repertoire is thoroughly engaging, moving, thought-provoking and has resonance in people’s lives.
REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘SDT’s mettle shines with megawatt brilliance: whatever they dance.’ Mary Brennan, The Herald
‘Crammed with ideas and wit, this is dance for the mind as well as the senses.’ The Guardian ( by Hofesh Shechter)
‘Sharp and full of treasures.’ The Guardian
CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
By Hofesh Shechter. Honest and raw, witty and sophisticated, Dog is an electrifying work created for SDT by one of the most talked-about choreographers of the moment. (31 mins.)
Liv Lorent’s award-winning, majestic work that’s both witty and tender, explores a desire and search for fulfilment. Visually-arresting, cinematic and with haunting music – a feast for the senses. (33 mins.)
By Uri Ivgi and Johan Greben. A duet performed in a 3m2 square of light that looks at relationships that constrict and confine people. (17 mins.)
FUTURE PRODUCTIONS
New Work (premiere February 2010) Lost Dog’s award-winning Ben Duke brings his ‘highly theatrical and subversively humorous style’ (Metro) to create a new work for SDT.
By Caroline Bowditch, Marc Brew and Janet Smith (premiere February 2010). An irreverent inquiry into the idea of ‘normality’. It examines our irrepressible eccentricities that defy attempts to fit into the mould. (.)
WRAP-AROUND
