ARTISTIC POLICY
Michael Mayhew’s work crosses all borders of form and takes on challenging, provocative, moving and transformational topics. He works within a process of immersion into living processes and praxis, often working in untested and remote locations around the world. Arriving back from these expeditions, work is produced as a direct reflection of what was experienced, engaging with forms of expression that often challenges the traditional audience-performer relationship.

REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘It's provocative, it's challenging, it moves and changes people – it's important, significant, and influential.’ Lois Keidan, Director, Live Art Development Agency

‘One of the most original and searching artists currently working in the UK.’ John E McGrath, Director, National Theatre of Wales

‘His unique views on the world regularly open the eyes of his partners and audiences to what is possible.’ Liz O'Neill, Director Zion Arts, Manchester

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
A participatory project that gathers stories from our audience, focusing on people who have vanished from their lives. These stories are used to create an electro-acoustic performance that gets us to reflect upon a vanishing world. (90 mins, 4 on the road.)

Large-scale projection of a road movie crossing the Australian out-back, the screening is accompanied by a spoken word text. (90 mins, 1 on the road.)

A living exhibition of ‘hearts and minds’ that we met during a week roaming round your cities streets. (Duration tbc, 2 on the road.)

FUTURE PRODUCTIONS
Based around a dinner table, working with a collective of international artists, we tell the story of our relationship with our nations’ food: its cultural identity, its production, distribution, economical structuring and the effect our eating habits have on the planet and so our lives. (4 on the road, 1 hour 20 mins.)

Face the unknown. A 30-hour durational performance – an empty room transformed. (2 on the road.)

An exploration into books that have shaped our view of the world. A series of lone figures walk around the streets, stand in institutions wearing books for faces that they discuss with the public. A participatory project working with local artists, ideas and our favourite books.

WRAP-AROUND
Mayhew is brought into locations to offer reflections on the social cultural histories of place and people. This rigorous investigative praxis, engaging with social and anthropological research methodologies, offers a wide discourse that can be delivered as seminars, workshops, lecture demonstrations and residencies. The exploration of language structure used within performance, visual art, film and electro-acoustic composition would be of value primarily to professional artists, academics and students. The collaborative and participatory nature of the company’s work allows the discourse around process to be acutely democratic and inclusive for all. For the future production, , we foresee an opportunity of engaging with a diversity of people within the workshops offered.
