ARTISTIC POLICY
Jonathan Lunn Dance Company aims to present high-quality, accessible dance performance. By forging collaborations with artists from different fields – writers, actors, composers, musicians and designers – and by drawing on a highly developed and detailed physical language, Jonathan Lunn Dance Company creates work that looks through a magnifying glass at human relationships.

REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘Reading Room is remarkable, and not just for the poignant input of Anthony Minghella. It’s utterly engrossing… an accessible treat.’ Jenny Gilbert, The Sunday Times

‘The exquisite detail with which their bodies fail to find an accommodation… is a gem of choreographic ingenuity.’ Judith Mackrell, The Guardian

‘Light humour and tenderness completed this intelligently executed beautifully wrapped package including striking lighting designs. A subtle and compelling work.’ Clare Thurman, Ballet Magazine

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
A full-length work involving one actor plus five dancers incorporating dance, music and spoken text including Samuel Beckett’s Stirrings Still and Anthony Minghella’s Self Assembly. Plus a specially choreographed segment involving local dancers, where relevant/appropriate. (85 mins, plus interval, 6 on stage, 10 on the road.)

A duet with text specially written and narrated by Anthony Minghella, charting the course of a relationship through the metaphor of assembly instructions for flat-packed furniture. (15 mins, 2 on stage, 4 on the road.)

WRAP-AROUND
Creative workshops exploring the relationship between text and dance, and ways in which text (in any language) can be used as a starting point for creating dance material and ideas; post-performance discussions; workshops with young people and professional dancers.
